Community Involvement

Research Underwriters takes seriously its commitment to community service and involvement. Since our founding, Research Underwriters has dedicated countless hours to local communities, and continues to seek out opportunities to assist organizations and individuals in need. We recognize that we are in business not just to grow the bottom line, but to grow and strengthen our region as well. We take this corporate responsibility to heart, and are proud to partner with a number of organizations in the Pittsburgh region.

Research Underwriters has partnered with the Pittsburgh Harlequins Rugby Football Club for over 30 years, sponsoring both the club’s facilities expansion and its youth mentoring program. The program instills the values of accountability, responsibility, and teamwork in its participants, who range in age from 8-14 and come from all neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. Research Underwriters President Stephen Friedberg, a rugby player for three decades, is a Director for the youth mentoring program.

Another community partnership that Research Underwriters is proud to participate in is the Eleanor Friedberg Art Scholarship Foundation. Founded in 1997 by company president Stephen Friedberg, this scholarship foundation has raised over $100,000 through a juried art competition. These funds benefit deserving Pittsburgh area art students. In recent years, we have partnered with the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild in their mission to “educate and inspire urban youth through the arts.”

In addition to these projects, we also work with many other non-profits and charitable organizations. Our employees also dedicate their time to volunteering in their local communities, and we applaud their efforts.
